Liverpool have waited 30 years to win a league title and, when it eventually arrived, they couldn’t celebrate it properly.

The players may have thrown a pretty big party in their hotel as they watched Manchester City lose to Chelsea but the fans couldn’t really enjoy the moment they’ve all been waiting for.

Well, they weren’t strictly allowed to celebrate due to social distancing rules but that didn’t stop them from gathering outside Anfield after they had been confirmed Premier League champions.

The following day, we saw unsavoury scenes at the city’s Pier Head as a firework was aimed at the city’s famous Liver Building, causing it to catch fire.

Fortunately, it seems the celebrations have died down and the majority of Liverpool fans are behaving themselves around the city.

However, on Monday afternoon, we saw another horrible incident.

A video clip emerged showing a red flare had been stuck on the statue of Dixie Dean outside Goodison Park.

For those of you that don’t know, the legendary former Everton striker died of a heart attack at Goodison Park whilst watching a match between the Toffees and Liverpool in 1980.

During his 12-year playing career for Everton, he scored an incredible 349 league goals in 399 appearances.

No wonder the club built him a statue outside the stadium. But it’s more than just a statue to honour Dean.

Everton fans use it as a memorial, leaving wreaths and flowers for lost loved ones.

It hasn’t been confirmed that a Liverpool fan lit that red flare and placed it there but it certainly doesn’t look good.

We hope those responsible are caught and punished for their despicable actions.
