Line-up graphic shows England's 'golden generation' in the coming years

In an alternative universe, we’d just be reaching the climax of Euro 2020.Gareth Southgate’s England would be preparing to their semi-final at Wembley before they inevitably end their 54 years of hurt on home soil.Ok, we might be dreaming a little but the Three Lions would have stood a good chance of reaching the latter stages of the tournament considering their performance at the World Cup two years ago.But perhaps England will benefit from having an extra 12 months to prepare for the European Championships.Especially when you consider the performances of the likes of Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood in recent weeks.Since the restart, Foden has four goals in his four appearances for Man City. Meanwhile, for United, Greenwood has three in his last two matches.Neither were expected to make the England squad at Euro 2020 but they seem nailed on to make it next year.But they’re far from the only young talents at Southgate’s disposal.And to demonstrate that, a line-up graphic showing England’s depth is going viral on social media.It shows at least three players in each position highlighting ‘England's new Golden Generation’ and a line-up that could start at Euro 2021 next year.Check it out:

Goalkeepers:

Dean Henderson
Jordan Pickford
Nick Pope

Henderson may well have leapfrogged Pickford to become England’s No.1 with his performances for Sheffield United this season.

Right-back:

Trent Alexander-Arnold
Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Kyle Walker
Reece James

It’s ridiculous the amount of talent England have at right-back. But it seems Alexander-Arnold is certain to start there.

Right centre-back:

Joe Gomez
John Stones
Michael Keane

Perhaps where England are lacking slightly. Gomez is a Premier League champion, though, and will surely start.

Left centre-back:

Harry Maguire
Fikayo Tomori
Tyrone Mings

Again, not the strongest but the world’s most expensive defender, Maguire, became a national hero two summers ago.

Left-back:

Ben Chilwell
Luke Shaw
Danny Rose

He’s no Ashley Cole but Chilwell has established himself as England’s best left-back with his displays for Leicester.

Defensive midfield:

Jordan Henderson
Declan Rice
Harry Wink
Eric Dier

The Premier League-winning captain may not play as a No.6 for Liverpool but showed he’s more than capable of doing so when Fabinho was out injured earlier this season.

Right centre-midfield:

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Dele Alli
Mason Mount
Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Oxlade-Chamberlain would probably like to start a few more games for Liverpool but he’s probably a better option than Alli, Mount and Loftus-Cheek right now.

Left centre-midfield:

Phil Foden
James Maddison
Jack Grealish
Ross Barkley

Foden is an exceptional talent and Southgate will be hoping Pep Guardiola gives him more gametime next season with David Silva leaving Man City.

Right-wing:

Raheem Sterling
Jadon Sancho
Mason Greenwood
Callum Hudson-Odoi

Considering the season he’s had at Borussia Dortmund, Sancho probably deserves to start for England. But Sterling might just be ahead of him at the moment. Greenwood probably considers himself more of a centre-forward than a right-winger but he and Hudson-Odoi offer exciting options.
