Supporters on Tyneside are waiting with bated breath of news of a breakthrough.
News broke over three months ago about Newcastle United's prospective £300million deal to buy the club, meaning that the fans have been on tenterhooks ever since.
Amanda Staveley is the figurehead of the Saudi-backed consortium who are said to be leading the charge for the club, with just one final test standing in their way.
The club are currently waiting on a verdict from the Premier League as to whether the deal can go ahead, and that has led to plenty of uncertainty behind the scenes.
One huge question mark is about what the takeover could mean for Steve Bruce's future as manager.
But according to Mark Douglas of Chronicle Live, the Toon Army boss deserves a chance to continue what he's started.
Writing for Chronicle Live, Douglas said: "Of all the things Mike Ashley has inflicted on Newcastle, this depression of expectation is the most damaging and insidious.
"The Premier League is the club's natural habitat: don't be afraid to say it or, crucially, mean it.
"But circumstances and the job he (Steve Bruce) has done mean he is likely - and likely deserves - a shot if the takeover gets the green light.
"The delay in a decision has reduced the time any new owners would have to prepare for a new season.
"There is too much to do and - according to those inside the group - they have not looked at alternative options so far.
"They will also likely take soundings from a squad who are against changing things.
"Safe as houses? Not quite.
"But the same bookies who paid out on United are now offering shorter odds on Jose Mourinho or Eddie Howe to get the elbow. Bruce has led an impressive turnaround."
