Mikel Arteta was upset that Jamie Vardy wasn’t sent off in the first half of Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Leicester City on Tuesday.Vardy caught Shkodran Mustafi in the face with his heel but the incident wasn’t reviewed by VAR.Arsenal were leading 1-0 up at the time but it would be Vardy who equalised for Leicester in a controversial clash at the Emirates Stadium.Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah was shown a straight red card upon a VAR review for a high challenge on James Justin. Then in the 84th minute, Vardy levelled things up when he turned home Demarai Gray’s cross, although Arsenal fans complained that Vardy was offside. No matter Arteta was in a fiery mood by the time he caught up with Sky Sports.“We should have been three or four-nil up,” he said. “With the red card you have to know he is a young kid.“Leicester should play with 10 men after 42 minutes. For a challenge between the 40th and 45th minute.”

New angles of the incident have emerged and a number of fans are convinced that Vardy deliberately kicked Mustafi.

“You can’t tell me there is no intent there. 3 game ban for violet conduct,” wrote one fan.

The replays don’t look good for Vardy.

Swinging his leg up like that certainly appears to be an unnatural movement. He brings it up with some force, too.

Had VAR intervened, the 33-year-old might not have been on the pitch to score late on.

It wouldn’t have been so bad for Arsenal had Vardy not gone on to grab a late equaliser.

And Nketiah’s sending off just four minutes after coming on was also a decision that Arteta couldn’t understand.

“I don’t understand the rules,” the Arsenal boss added.

“I never see a referee check any of the images. But I can do nothing now, it is the rules.

“We lost two points, we lost Eddie and we will see now for how many games. But we go to Spurs now and try to win three points.”

Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez also believes the decision to send Nketiah off was harsh.

“I know Eddie, he is not an aggressive player,” Martinez said, per football365. “He slipped and did not want to injure him and the red card is harsh. We know Eddie and we know he is a nice guy.”

Just being ‘a nice guy’ isn’t enough to not deserve a red card, though.

The young striker didn’t even touch the ball before he was shown a red card for a dangerous challenge on Justin.
