Chelsea’s summer window is shaping up to be genuinely spectacular.
The Blues have already made aggressive moves in the transfer market, securing deals for both Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.
The moves come ahead of the end of the season and the Blues are likely to be playing Champions League football in 2020/21.
They lie third, five points ahead of fifth-placed Manchester United, with just four games of the season remaining.
To that end, manager Frank Lampard is continuing to make plans to strengthen his squad and it appears that they are leading the race for another in-demand star.
Indeed, a new report from Goal outlines that Chelsea could be set to splash as much as €100 million (£90m) on another acquisition as their plans for next season ramp up.
Clearly, the Blues are hoping to rival both Liverpool and Manchester City in next term’s title race.
And Goal reports that the club are in pole position to sign Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Kai Havertz.
The 21-year-old has been a target of a number of clubs but Goal reports that a number of potential suitors have pulled out of the race, given his huge asking price.
Havertz has scored 17 goals and registered nine assists in all competitions this season and he is open to the idea of moving to the Premier League.
Bayer are also willing to sell him should his asking price be met.

It remains to be seen exactly how this would work.
Chelsea have a number of attacking players and one has to wonder how Lampard will fit them all in.
They have wingers Christian Pulisic, Pedro, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Willian, while there are also a number of attacking midfielders, including Billy Gilmour, Mason Mount, and Ross Barkley.
One has to add Ziyech to that list, while in terms of strikers, they have Tammy Abraham, Michy Batshuayi, and Olivier Giroud, plus Werner.
That’s a total of 12 players, or a starting XI plus a substitute.
Lampard is likely to struggle to bring a coherent tune out of such a bloated squad, regardless of how talented Havertz may be.
