Arsenal striker Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang is the preferred choice to lead the line than Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy, according to a poll we ran on our official Facebook page.

With over 125,000 fans having their say, the Gabon international took home the win after receiving 57% of the votes.

Ahead of the clash between Arsenal and Leicester City on Tuesday night, the poll was set up to find out who fans would prefer to lead the line.

Both strikers displayed strong cases in the game that followed, scoring a goal apiece in a game which eventually ended in a 1-1 draw.

However, the poll result showed that although a close result, the majority of fans would have Aubameyang up front rather than 33-year-old Vardy.

Vardy is the Premier League’s leading goalscorer in the 2019/20 season, with 22 goals. With only four games to go, Arsenal’s no.14 places in second with 20 goals to his name for this campaign.

It’s fair to say one of these two will be claiming the infamous golden boot for this season – unless a late charge of goals come from the likes of Southampton’s Danny Ings or Liverpool’s Mo Salah, who are both two & three goals from Aubameyang’s current figure respectively.

However, the poll has suggested that more people would prefer 31-year-old Aubameyang over Vardy in a team.

The prolific England striker also has six assists in the league this season, comparing to Aubameyang’s low stat of four. However, the fact they both score consistently shows why they should be in the team, contributing a large amount of goals for their clubs.

Since the restart of this unique season, both Vardy and Aubameyang have scored three times. With only four games to go for both teams in the league, it will go down to the wire before a golden boot winner can be crowned.

GiveMeSport’s Jordan Noble says….

I think I would have to disagree with the poll, as I would much prefer Vardy up top as a striker.

There’s no doubt these two are naturally quick and are both great finishers. However, I just think Vardy is a better overall striker with everything else he contributes.

Vardy’s work rate is much higher than Aubameyang’s as well. I also think he influences a game more in that he’s a massive influence in Leicester’s dressing room and he is always leading the line with that same intensity.

He shows his passion for football and that reflects on the pitch. He has worked his way up through the ranks to become a Premier League winner with a club no one thought would have. I think he’s been impressive ever since that campaign.
