What a summer this is shaping up to be for Chelsea.

After facing a 12-month transfer ban the Blues are hoping to make up for lost time by doing some serious business in the summer transfer window.

Deals have already been completed to sign Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, however they're far from done.

A number of stars have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the coming months, but none will get supporters as excited as one in particular.

That man, of course, is Kai Havertz.

Speculation has been building over the future of the 20-year-old who is said to be attracting the interest of clubs such as Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

But with Chelsea regarded as favourites to sign him, they've been handed a big boost following the end of the German season.

According to Bild, Havertz has told Bayer Leverkusen that he wants to leave the club.

The German side failed to qualify for the Champions League after finishing fifth in the Bundesliga, meaning that their only hope of playing in Europe's elite competition would come from winning the Europa League.

Some have suggested that Havertz could be tempted to stay for another season, however the 20-year-old will surely be keen to challenge himself at the highest level.

This comes after reports from Goal that Chelsea were in pole position to sign the midfielder, with a £90million offer in the pipeline.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

The transfer window isn't even open and we're already gripped by what is going on.

Chelsea have been quickest out of the blocks with two huge signings all-but wrapped up, and it seems that they aren't finished yet.

In fact, they're only just getting started.

If they can tie up a deal for Kai Havertz that would one heck of a coup - especially if they are beating some of Europe's biggest clubs to the punch.
