Tottenham Hotspur are clearly looking towards the summer transfer window.

Jose Mourinho’s side are currently eighth in the Premier League table, following their 1-0 win over Everton on Tuesday.

They are unlikely to be playing Champions League football next season, as they lie seven points behind fifth-placed Manchester United and 11 behind fourth-placed Leicester City.

Spurs have just five games of the season remaining, against AFC Bournemouth, Arsenal, Newcastle United, Leicester, and Crystal Palace.

They need something of a miracle to be finishing in the Champions League places – a fifth-placed finish could well be enough given Manchester City’s impending ban from next season’s competition.

While Europa League qualification is a possibility, they are clearly looking to the summer in terms of potential arrivals and potential sales.

The Daily Telegraph reports that one summer signing could potentially leave in the next transfer window, although it is likely to be a loan move.

Ryan Sessegnon has struggled for minutes thus far this term and there is an acceptance at the club that he may need more minutes to be able to develop properly as a player.

The 20-year-old joined the club from Fulham in a £25 million deal last summer but he has made just 12 appearances in all competitions this season.

He has not played at all since the resumption of Premier League football, only making the bench against Manchester United and West Ham United.

In total, he has played 10 times under Jose Mourinho, though just five of those games have been in the top-flight, and just three of those have comprised the full 90 minutes.

Sessegnon did not even make the squad against Everton last time out; Dennis Cirkin, the 18-year-old left-back, was on the bench instead.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

Sessegnon is really good.

He was highly-rated during his time at Fulham and he has the ability to play on either the left wing or at left-back.

But he just hasn’t been given a proper chance during his time at Spurs.

The report outlines that he wanted to move to north London to play under former manager Mauricio Pochettino but he was sacked in November, leaving the club in the hands of Mourinho.

That relationship clearly hasn’t worked out for Sessegnon and, now, he’s staring down the barrel of being shunted out on loan.

It doesn’t speak to good management; Mourinho ought to give him a chance instead of shipping him out.
