It could be a memorable season for Leeds United with promotion very much on the cards.

Level on points with 1st place West Brom, Marcelo Bielsa's side are eight points clear of the play-off position with just seven games to go.

The club are doing all that they can to prepare for next season and that includes targeting signings for the summer.

One man on the club's radar is Ben White.

The 22-year-old has been a revelation for Marcelo Bielsa's side this term after being a virtual ever present in the Championship.

According to Football Insider, Manchester United, Liverpool and Leicester City are all said to be keen.

Leeds are firmly on track to secure promotion to the Premier League, and should they get themselves over the line then a move for the centre-back is likely to be a top priority.

Of course the party who have the deciding vote in Ben White's parent club.

The Seagulls are embroiled in a relegation battle in the Premier League, meaning that if they stay up then they may well be a divisional rival of Bielsa's side next term, but even a move for White doesn't materialise, Beren Cross of Leeds Live has said that a defender has to be a priority.

Speaking to MOT Leeds News, Cross said: "Should the club miss out on promotion, loans are absolutely the way they would be going with the financial controls the EFL is now putting in place.”

“Promotion looks more likely, so their approach may change with more money coming into the club. You are right to point out the money they are already committed to spending, especially if Augustin’s £20m-plus deal is included in that. It’s not Bielsa’s style to push for revolution either.

“He will want to give the vast majority of this group a fair crack of the whip in the Premier League, largely because they already know his system so well too. Therefore, there would not be much sense in spending more than £20m on someone who sits on the bench until December.

“If White does not return, a stellar centre-back will be an absolute priority. They may cost a tidy sum in the new market.”

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

Signing Ben White would be a huge coup for Leeds United.

The defender has shown that he has all of the attributes to be a top defender in the Premier League.

Since moving to Elland Road he has been nothing short of a revelation after proving himself as a perfect fit for Marcelo Bielsa and his system.

In truth, I think that even Brighton have been surprised by how well he's done.

It's worth remembering that he's still a part of Graham Potter's side, and given the fact that they're all-but safe in the Premier League, there's every chance that they will be planning to build the team around him next term.

The Seagulls will undoubtedly have big plans for the defender, and that means that any club will have to pay a big sum if they're to sell.
