The race to become Scottish champions next year is already very much underway.

While Rangers have aspirations of kicking on next term and providing viable competition, the target at Parkhead is much more ambitious.

Coming away as Champions next term will mean that Celtic have made in 10 titles in a row - something that their rivals will certainly find difficult to stomach.

However if the Bhoys are to do that then they'll need to make sure that they make a success of the summer's transfer market.

Based on the latest reports, it seems that one move could be gathering pace.

One man who's been linked is Alberth Elis.

The 24-year-old plays for Houston Dynamo but is reportedly set to move on this summer with a new challenge in Europe being the priority.

The forward is an international teammate of Celtic favourite Emilio Izaguirre, and in fresh reports, Elis has spoken of his desire to move to the Scottish champions.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Elis said: "When I first played for Honduras, I asked Emilio to recommend me to Celtic.

"In fact, always ask him that!

"There are clubs who would be nice to play for because they are always challenging for titles and cups. I have spoken to Emilio about Celtic and he’s told me they are at another level.

"For me, since the day I left Olimpica, I’ve never hidden the fact that my dream is to go and play in Europe and compete in the Champions League.

"Houston know my position.

"They have offered me a new contract and I will decide on my future at the end of the season.

"I would have liked to have played 100 games for the club, but that may not be possible now."

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This could certainly be a shrewd move.

Alberth Elis is certainly a talented individual who has a bright future ahead of him.

Celtic have a great track record of signing promising young talent from around the world and developing them into top players, and so this could be an ideal move.

Given the fact that he's likely to be available this summer, there's every chance that Celtic could strike a discounted deal with Houston Dynamo.

If Kristoffer Ajer moves on then they'll certainly need another face, and Kalaica could be the perfect man to fill that void.
