t's set to be an exciting summer for Newcastle United supporters.

While the Premier League are yet to make a decision on the proposed takeover of the club from Amanda Staveley and the Saudi-backed consortium for a sum of £300m, that won't stop them making preparations for the transfer market.

Victory over Bournemouth on Wednesday night has all-but secured survival in the Premier League, meaning that plans can be made for next season.

Regardless of who will be running the club, the first team squad needs strengthening and that has to be a priority.

Many names have already been linked with a move, but one is a very familiar face at St James' Park.

According to Football Insider, Newcastle have opened talks over a move for Danny Rose.

The Tottenham Hotspur defender has been on loan in the North East since January and has established himself as a first team regular under Steve Bruce.

With just 12 months remaining on his contract in North London, the writing seems to be on the wall for the former England international who looks certain to move on this summer.

Valued by Spurs at just £5million, Newcastle are confident of being able to strike a deal to make the loan move permanent.

Rose is said to have enjoyed his time on Tyneside and would be open to making the move North on a long-term basis.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

What a move this would be for Newcastle United.

Danny Rose has been very impressive since arriving at the club on loan, and if an opportunity arose to make that permanent then I'm sure the club would jump at it.

Thankfully for Newcastle, it seems that his days in North London are very much numbered.

Given the fact that he's got just 12 months left on his contract it seems that Spurs are willing to accept a cut-price deal for Rose - something that will be hugely appealing for the North East side.

Providing they can meet his substantial wage demands, this could be a relatively simple move to wrap up.
