Celtic head into next season with some records on the cards.
If they win the Scottish top-flight again it will be their tenth successive campaign lifting the title.
However, before that’s even happened, they may well break their transfer record. That’s if previous reports are to be believed.
The Hoops have already brought back Moi Elyounoussi for a further loan spell but it remains to be seen whether they can also lure Fraser Forster back to Glaswegian pastures.
Clearly, other options between the sticks will have to be considered.
However, someone else the club are keen on landing, besides Forster, is a defender at Aberdeen.
That happens to be 23-year-old Scott McKenna.
Football Insider report that the Hoops want to sign him this summer and have recently received a boost in doing so.
Teammate Sam Cosgrove has rejected a move to Guingamp which could possibly pave the way for McKenna to leave.
The centre-back handed in a transfer request last August but failed to seal a move away from Pittodrie.
GIVEMESPORT’S Matt Dawson says…
Celtic have been chasing the player for over two years now and have failed to get their man both under Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon.
McKenna is a player on the up, being capped 13 times by his country while his immense height of 6 foot 2 means he’s a dominant aerial presence.
At just 24, as well, Nick Hammond can’t go too wrong by renewing Celtic’s interest in the player.
Whether they can finally lure McKenna to Glasgow after two years of pursuing him remains to be seen. Either way, Aberdeen can probably expect another bid this summer.
A boyhood fan, the player would surely enjoy the move.
