Liverpool tipped to sign Premier League star

Liverpool’s absolute battering against Manchester City a few weeks ago was embarrassing.

After celebrating the title with a couple of nights on the booze, the players showed a complete lack of focus and professionalism.

However, will they care? Of course not. The Reds wrapped up their first league title in 30 years a couple of weeks ago and what a triumph it was. There wasn’t a more deserving team this term.

Since that loss at the Eithad, Jurgen Klopp’s men have recovered with two wins on the trot – the focus and the performances are well and truly back.

They may not be as free-flowing as some matches we’ve seen in 2019/20, but you can forgive their players for already being on the beach.

It will be interesting to see whether the Merseysiders can improve on their record from over the last two years. In back to back campaigns, the Reds have surpassed the 90 point mark.

They are one of the best teams in world football, if not the best after winning the Club World Cup. Surely they can’t get better?

It’s not clear who the Reds will target over the summer but one player they’ve been linked with in the past is Wolves winger Adama Traore.

Sporting Director Michael Edwards has previously been told the former Barcelona man will cost a considerable sum of money – €80m (£71.6m) in fact.

However, former Liverpool man Stan Collymore has now tipped the club to land both Traore and his Wolves teammate Raul Jimenez in a huge double swoop.

Writing in the print version of The Daily Mail (via Birmingham Live) he said:

“Liverpool should have two Wolves players on their shopping lists this summer – Raul Jimenez and Adama Traore.

“Traore is the obvious one but Jimenez has settled into the Premier League like a duck to water.”

Interesting thoughts indeed.

Adama Traore

GIVEMESPORT’S Matt Dawson says…

Traore has been one of the most frightening players in the Premier League this season, tearing apart opposition defenders on a regular basis.

The Reds may already have someone unpredictable in Mo Salah but the Barcelona youth graduate would be a genius player to bring off the bench.

So far this season, the 24-year-old has bagged six goals and racked up an impressive nine assists.

Incredibly though, he completes as many as five successful dribbles per match – it’s no surprise he was described as an “absolute tank” back in 2018.

That tally of dribbles, though, puts him 0.4 ahead of anyone else in the entire division. For further context, Sadio Mane and Salah only complete 1.9 and 1.5 dribbles per outing.

He would be a fabulous signing but at the price he’s been quoted at, you’d have to question the club if they spent that much on a player unlikely to start all the time.

You can hardly blame Wolves for valuing him that highly, however.
