Manchester United are looking to the summer transfer window.

They are currently going great guns as they attempt to qualify for the Champions League.

Indeed, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side thumped Aston Villa 3-0 on Thursday evening, and now sit just one point behind fourth-placed Leicester City and two points third-placed Chelsea.

They also have to play the Foxes between now and the end of the season, meaning there is a very real chance of a top-four finish.

As the summer transfer window looms, Solskjaer is clearly looking at strengthening his squad.

Reports have stated that Jadon Sancho is a major target, per The Athletic, but there seem to be alternative arrangements being made.

Indeed, Mundo Deportivo, via Sport Witness, reports that a France international is a potential target.

Indeed, Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele has been identified as a possible acquisition as the summer window looms.

The 23-year-old has struggled with injuries throughout the campaign, missing the last 20 games of the Liga season.

Dembele has made a total of 74 appearances for Barca, scoring 19 goals, and the report states that United have previously expressed doubts over his fitness.

Indeed, those fears have proven to be well-founded this season but the Spanish giants could demand a significantly lower fee than Borussia Dortmund are asking for Sancho.

He would cost €60 million (£53.7m) but it remains to be seen if United will be willing to pay out for such an injury-prone player.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

This doesn’t make any sense from United’s perspective.

Comparing Dembele to Sancho is unfair because of just how good the latter is; he has scored 20 goals and registered 20 assists this season alone.

Dembele, by comparison, has scored just 12 goals in La Liga in his career.

They are not on the same level and, when one adds in Dembele’s injury woes, the picture becomes all the clearer.

United should put all of their energy into signing the England international and ignore the Frenchman completely.
