Tottenham Hotspur’s Ryan Sessegnon finds himself at something of a crossroads.

The left-back, who can also play as a left winger, joined Spurs last summer with all the hope in the world.

By all accounts, he was desperate to play under manager Mauricio Pochettino but he never really got the chance.

The Argentine was sacked in November, having given the 20-year-old just one minute of Premier League football under his management.

In came Jose Mourinho and, since then, Sessegnon has played at times; he completed the 90 minutes against Norwich City in December and against Southampton and the Canaries in January.

But since the resumption of proceedings in Project Restart, Sessegnon hasn’t kicked a ball for the club, and was not even in the squad against Sheffield United and Everton.

It is a drab picture for the former Fulham ace but a new report from Mundo Deportivo, via Sport Witness, claims that Barcelona have taken a liking to him.

A previous Evening Standard report stated that Mourinho had personally blocked an exit for Sessegnon but the new piece states that Barca are hoping to sign a technically-minded back-up for Jordi Alba.

That has led to them seeking out a possible move for Sessegnon, though he has a contract with Spurs until 2025.

The report even states that they "like" the youngster.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

Sessegnon needs to be kept at all costs.

He is a terrific asset who is only going to improve; he just needs to play.

At the age of just 20, he offers a brilliant level of versatility and has shown that he can cut it with the very best.

Indeed, when he played against Bayern Munich in the Champions League earlier this season, he scored his side’s only goal.

There is a reason that Spurs splashed £25 million on his signature; he’s going to become a genuine star.

Selling him cannot be an option.
