Matteo Guendouzi is clearly in trouble.

The Arsenal midfielder has not played for the club since their loss to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League, a game in which he did not exactly cover himself in glory.

Indeed, he was seen to grab Seagulls striker Neal Maupay by the throat during the encounter.

Maupay, of course, went on to score the winner for Graham Potter’s side as Brighton sealed a vital three points.

The Gunners have not exactly missed him, either, with Mikel Arteta’s side beating Southampton, Norwich City, and Wolves in the Premier League in his absence, prior to a draw with Leicester City.

And France Football have now relayed some new information about the midfielder’s future.

It appears that the 21-year-old could well be heading for an exit, with the summer transfer window looming.

The report states that Guendouzi’s behaviour during the game against Brighton, in which he also is said to have mocked the wages earned by his opponents.

He is said to have met with manager Mikel Arteta, along with football director Raul Sanllehi, technical director Edu, and financial operator Huss Fahmy, though he did not come across particularly well.

He claimed that he was working to protect Arsenal and his goalkeeper, Bernd Leno, who was injured in a clash with Maupay.

Another meeting is set to be held at the end of the season, when Arsenal will decide whether or not to retain the France U21 international.

Guendouzi could well be sold, with the Gunners set to demand a fee of between €30 million and €35m (£26.8m - £31.3m) for his signature.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

Arsenal really need to move Guendouzi out of the club.

The midfielder is clearly seen as something of a bad apple within the squad and an example absolutely has to be set.

The way he behaved during the game with Brighton was unconscionable and cannot be allowed to stand.

If there is genuine interest in his services this summer, Arsenal should snap off the hand of the suitors.

After his actions, though, it remains to be seen who will actually want to take him.
