Rangers and Steven Gerrard have a mighty task on their hand at Ibrox this summer - preparing the club for an assault on the SPFL title.

The Gers have been languishing behind their Old Firm rivals for nine years now and if they're going to stop the dreaded ten in a row, they'll need to strengthen their squad in Glasgow.

They've already begun doing so by adding Ianis Hagi on a permanent deal while former Sunderland 'keeper Jon McLaughlin has also arrived.

However, they will need far more if they're to finally usurp their biggest rivals.

That's especially if their star player and main man in attack Alfredo Morelos departs.

The Colombian forward has been linked with Everton and Napoli in recent weeks but even if he remains at Ibrox, he'll need to improve on his tally from 2020.

So far the striker has scored just once this calendar year - one of the primary reasons Rangers fell 13 points behind at the top of the SPFL table.

Morelos

Perhaps they could do with the help of a further winger.

This week Rangers have been touted with a move for Feyenoord wonderkid Crysencio Summerville.

A rather exotic name, the Netherlands youth international is of Surinamese descent. An unusual upbringing, he is now being eyed with moves to British shores where Rangers and Wolves are both interested.

According to VI, Anderlecht and Red Bull Salzburg are also thinking of making a move for the 18-year-old.

The winger has previously been valued at around £2m

Summerville

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

Summerville won't be 19 until October but it's clear he has an enormous future in the game.

He has six goals in just five outings for Netherlands' U19 side while he racked up five goal contributions on loan at ADO Den Haag.

The teenager may struggle to keep the ball, registering a pass success rate lower than 70% but he is an extremely tricky player to deal with.

Feyenoord's prospect has completed 1.5 dribbles per match, an eye-catching tally that has seen him drawn comparisons to one of the brightest young players in world football.

Analysing the player in November 2019, football website It's Round and It's White said he was "reminiscent of Jadon Sancho," such are his stunning ball skills.

He'd certainly add a different dimension to Gerrard's team, a side who only have two players above Summerville in terms of dribbles this season - Ryan Kent and Morelos.
