Port Vale midfielder Doug Loft has undergone a scan on a knee injury sustained during Saturday's 1-1 draw with Southend.

The Valiants are nervously awaiting the results to discover whether Loft will play any part in the club's play-off charge over the remaining five matches of the League Two season.

Assistant manager Geoff Horsfield told the club's official website: "Loft took a kick on Saturday while his foot was planted on the floor, so he has felt something in his knee.

"It has settled down a little bit and he says it is less tender than it was at the weekend, but we will have a scan today (Monday), see how it is and take it from there.

"It doesn't look good but we will just have to see what the scan says as there might be problems in there, but we will just have to wait and see."
