Liverpool face a genuine dilemma this summer.

The Reds have been in brilliant form this season and are now Premier League champions.

They have lost just twice all season, once after winning the title and only once before.

It is going to be remarkably difficult, then, for the club to improve on such an incredible season.

They currently have 92 points with four games of the season remaining; they could well surpass Manchester City’s 100-point mark with a game to spare.

How does one look to strengthen such a world-class squad, then?

Well, one theory is to sign genuinely world-class players to come in and improve Klopp’s pool of players.

One such player could well be Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly.

Per Tutto Napoli, via Sport Witness, the 29-year-old is set to be on the market in the coming transfer window, with Gennaro Gattuso’s side giving the green light to move the Senegal international on.

Koulibaly is said to be hopeful of taking on a new challenge and he would cost between €70 million and €80m (£62.6m to £71.5m) to secure this summer.

The Reds are said to be one of the “most interested” clubs in snapping up his signature.

Koulibaly has made a total of 239 appearances for Napoli and even captained them against the Reds in the Champions League earlier this season.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

Koulibaly would be a genuinely monstrous signing for Liverpool.

He is a world-class centre-back and has been there and done it all. He is a seasoned pro, a veteran, and capable of slotting in nicely alongside Virgil van Dijk in the heart of the Reds’ defence.

It would be a costly fee but it would also be a genuine upgrade on Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip, and Joe Gomez and would perhaps be the final piece of the Liverpool jigsaw.

Their one solitary weakness has been in central defence.

Signing Koulibably would go a long way to fixing it.
