Leeds are well and truly in pole position to achieve promotion.

Supporters at Elland Road may not want their luck to be cursed after their remarkable bottling last season, but they are in the driving seat.

Sitting top of the Championship heading into the weekend's fixtures, Marcelo Bielsa's men have been emphatic in their last few games, scoring eight goals.

Their 5-0 victory over Stoke was particularly impressive.

At times this season the Yorkshire side have been far from clinical in front of goal. However, they look to be building steam and gaining momentum at just the right time.

It's been a good week in general for the Whites who announced the permanent transfer of Helder Costa.

Similar deals look to be on the cards for Illan Meslier and Jack Harrison too.

Excitingly, an announcement on their next arrival could come soon.

According to Football Insider, Leeds are set to conclude a deal to bring teenager Charlie Allen to the club.

The 16-year-old is currently plying his trade for Northern Irish side Linfield and is set for a £300,000 departure.

The fee was agreed back in May but it now looks like he's finally set to put pen to paper.

A source told FI that pandemic restrictions put the deal on hold and as a result, things couldn't be signed off.

Though, with lockdown lifting, it looks far easier for Allen to finally walk through the door.

Leeds have fought off interest from Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester City to land the teenager.

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

Leeds have quite the academy at the moment and the addition of Allen can only be good news.

That's particularly for a club who have just announced Catagory One status of their youth set-up for the first in their history.

The news is hardly surprising given the investment in the club from Andrea Radrizzani and the hard work Bielsa has put in to improve the way the players train at Thorpe Arch.

Born in 2003, Allen isn't 17 until late November but rather incredibly, he's already played four times for current club Linfield.

Allen won't be the first Northern Irish player to feature for the club's academy with Alfie McCalmont currently coming through the ranks.

He made both his first-team and international debut this season which should provide Allen with plenty of encouragement over his move to England.

Although Leeds have plenty of forward players in the academy, he will certainly be in the right place if he wants to develop. Even if he struggles for game time, the move will be worth it for the facilities alone.
