All of a sudden, the skies are beginning to look rather murky on Tyneside.Newcastle have gone from a team demolishing Sheffield United and on the verge of a takeover, to one seemingly letting the background noise get to them.The Magpies have now suffered back to back defeats against Manchester City and then rather more embarrassingly to Watford.For all the positives that had emerged out of the takeover, things now look more negative.Of course, PIF could still walk through the door but that might not happen until the middle of July at the earliest or the start of August at the latest. It's worrying times for a club who clearly need to improve their squad and possibly also their manager.Steve Bruce's decision to start Fabian Schar in midfield on Saturday lunchtime was questionable while he also arguably got his substitutions wrong. If this was an audition in front of the Saudi's, he failed it spectacularly. 
Bruce may have to ride the wave for now. His future is the least of Ashley's concerns at the moment but if the takeover does eventually get the seal of approval from the Premier League, he will have every right to be worried.Although the Toon Army are probably concerned about the direction the club is going in, Mark Douglas offered a positive claim on Saturday afternoon.Speaking about the takeover and whether it will be rejected, he stated:

This has to be one of the most drawn-out sagas in Premier League history.
When the takeover will pass or fail the owners' and directors' test remains to be seen but it does feel as though the finishing touches are finally being put on proceedings.
Premier League chief Richard Masters told the House of Commons that a resolution was close after being grilled about Saudi Arabia by MPs. Then, parliament confirmed they'd sell arms to KSA again.
On top of that, Saudi have brought in new measures to satisfy the piracy claims against them by introducing new laws to protect intellectual property.
Those pieces of news were fascinating developments in the bid to improve relations between Britain and the Middle-East, but whether it has any impact on the top-flight's plans to pass Newcastle's takeover is uncertain.
What is for certain, though, is that the Toon Army want it to go through. They are sick and tired of Mike Ashley.
