It's looking increasingly unlikely that Arsenal will qualify for any European competition for next season season.

After a 2-1 defeat away at Tottenham yesterday, the Gunners are now ninth in the table with just three rounds of matches left.

There's no denying it, 2019/20 has been Arsenal's worst season in the Premier League era and Mikel Arteta has an enormous task on his hands to try and reverse the club's recent decline.

It's been clear for a long, long time that a large number of players at the club are simply not good enough to wear the famous red shirt.

So with the north London derby still fresh in our minds, we've decided to create a TierMaker ranking the current Arsenal squad from 'world-class' to 'sell immediately'.

You can check it out below.

Arsenal TierMaker

World class:

  • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

We believe Aubameyang is the only world-class player on Arsenal's books right now.

Regular starter:

  • Bernd Leno
  • Dani Ceballos
  • Granit Xhaka
  • Nicolas Pepe
  • Kieran Tierney

Leno is one of the best 'keepers around these days, while summer signings Tierney and Pepe have big futures at the club.

Xhaka and Ceballos' midfield partnership has really blossomed in recent weeks and Arsenal will be eager to sign the latter on a permanent basis.

Squad player:

  • Emi Martinez
  • Lucas Torreira
  • Hector Bellerin
  • Calum Chambers

There aren't many better backup 'keepers than Martinez and Torreira is a more than useful midfielder to have in the squad - especially if he can rediscover the form he showed in 2018/19.

Bellerin's decline after his serious knee injury must be a source of concern for Arteta and his staff.

Potential:

  • Gabriel Martinelli
  • Reiss Nelson
  • Joe Willock
  • Ainsley Maitland-Niles
  • Rob Holding

Martinelli is one the most exciting youngsters on the planet, while the English quartet of Nelson, Willock, Maitland-Niles and Holding should all have futures at the club - for now.

Sell:

  • Sokratis
  • Alexandre Lacazette
  • Matteo Guendouzi

Lacazette may have scored an absolute cracker against Spurs, but his form this season just hasn't been good enough. Guendouzi's reportedly bad attitude is everything the club doesn't need right now, regardless of his talents as a footballer.

The fact Sokratis can't get a game at centre-back right now says it all...

Sell immediately:

  • Mesut Ozil
  • David Luiz
  • Shkodran Mustafi
  • Sead Kolasinac

Ruthless, we know, but all three members of Arsenal's back-line that played against Spurs are way too prone to mistakes and simply not good enough.

Ozil's situation at the club gets more laughable with each passing week, but getting his enormous salary off the wage bill isn't going to be easy.

Players unavailable on TierMaker:

  • Bukayo Saka - Regular starter
  • Cedric Soares - Squad player
  • Eddie Nketiah - Potential
  • Pablo Mari - Squad player

GIVEMESPORT'S Danny Ryan says...

There is promise in this Arsenal squad, of that I have no doubt. However, that promise is outweighed by the volume of sub-par players at the club.

Until the names in both the 'sell' and 'sell immediately' categories are moved on, I feel serious progress will be hard to come by for the Gunners.

This summer's transfer window will be pivotal to Arteta's reign as manager, because the current squad has 'mid-table team' written all over it.
