Liverpool may have won the Premier League but they seem to be struggling with something of a hangover since their triumph.

The Reds have won just two of their last four games and welcomed Burnley to Anfield on Saturday.

What would normally be seen as a home banker, though, was turned on its head as Sean Dyche’s men escaped the home of the champions with a draw.

Andrew Robertson scored the opening goal for the Reds but a Jay Rodriguez strike restored parity and gave the Clarets a well-earned point.

The result leaves Liverpool with 93 points from 35 games, and they remain within touching distance of breaking Manchester City’s record of 100, though they will need to avoid defeat in their final three games to have any chance.

They face Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle United before the end of the season.

One player who has not been involved in recent weeks is Dejan Lovren, with his last appearance coming as a substitute in the 0-0 draw with Everton immediately following the restart.

Since then, he has failed to make the squad for games against Manchester City, Aston Villa, and Brighton & Hove Albion.

It seems that he could be on his way out of the club, then, with the Liverpool Echo reporting that Zenit St Petersburg are interested in securing his signature.

He is currently the fourth-choice centre-back at Anfield, behind Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip, and Zenit are hopeful of striking a deal.

Zenit have yet to make contact with the Reds but they are said to be willing to let Lovren leave in the summer transfer window.

Per Transfermarkt, he is currently valued at £14.4 million and his contract expires at the end of next season.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

This is one of those deals where there simply isn’t a loser.

Liverpool would receive a decent fee for a player whose contract is expiring, while Zenit would be bolstering their defensive ranks with an experienced, adept centre-back.

As for Lovren, he would get the guarantee of first-team football and the opportunity to challenge for trophies in Russia; Zenit have lost just two games all season and are top of the Russian league by 15 points.

All parties, then, should try to make this deal happen when the summer window rolls around.

Liverpool, after all, won’t be losing all that much if he does leave.
