Rangers FC have big plans for the coming season.

Celtic have dominated Scottish football in recent years but the hope at Ibrox is that this is about to change.

Neil Lennon's side have hopes of making it 10-straight league titles - something that Steven Gerrard's side are determined to stop.

If they're to do that, Rangers will need to keep hold of their star men, with one key figure being the subject of intense speculation.

That man, of course, is Steven Gerrard.

The Rangers manager has been heavily linked with a move to Bristol City after they took the decision to dismiss Lee Johnson.

However according to Noel Whelan, the Scottish giants have very little to worry about as they seek to keep hold of their main man.

Speaking to Football Insider, Whelan said: "They are wasting their time.

“I very much doubt Steven Gerrard would leave Glasgow Rangers right now.

“I would be very surprised if he is prized away without winning something. He will not see his first managerial job as done until he wins some sort of silverware whether it be the league or a cup.

“That man has got pride written all over him. He will not let his first managerial position be known as a nearly job.

“He will bring silverware to Ibrox before he contemplates moving. He is nowhere near finished.”

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This is a major boost for Rangers.

The Scottish side are firmly on the right track after establishing themselves as one of the country's elite sides once again.

However they have one key objective remaining, and that's to win the title.

With Celtic hoping to make it 10 in a row this term, Gerrard will be determined to stop them from getting their way.

If he can guide Rangers to the title it'll be a huge achievement, and that's something that the Liverpool legend will be determined to have on his CV before even considering moving on.
