Anthony Joshua's world heavyweight title defence against Kubrat Pulev has been provisionally scheduled in for November.

The bout was originally supposed to take place last month at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but it had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

It means Joshua will have been inactive for close to a year since his victory over Andy Ruiz Jr. in Saudi Arabia back in December.

As such, the Brit's promoter Eddie Hearn is eager to sort the fight against Pulev by any means possible and he's suggested some rather quirky potential locations for the bout itself.

They range from castles, plush hotels and all the way to a boat - yes, you did read that correctly, a boat!

Joshua vs Pulev

“Other ideas we have are 1,000 people somewhere strange and quirky," Heard told the Evening Standard.

"I’ve got a few things up my sleeve. We’re talking about castles, plush hotels, maybe even on a boat.

“Croatia have offered a coliseum - and that’s beautiful - and we’re still open to options and flexible. These are all things thinking outside of the box - it just depends what’s allowed.”

Just imagine watching Joshua and Pulev slug it out on a luxury yacht - absolute scenes!

Hearn also added that the O2 in London is still at the forefront of options in the UK, however, a lot of that depends on whether coronavirus restrictions are lifted in the coming months.

“By November, can we go to 16,000 people at the O2? Right now, we’re handcuffed by the regulations," Hearn added.

So it seems there is a distinct possibility that we could see Joshua versus Pulev in a unique setting.

Locations in Saudi Arabia will, of course, be considered once again, but how brilliantly bonkers would it be to genuinely stage the fight on a boat?

It would add some much-needed excitement and intrigue to a title fight that isn't exactly being heralded as a potential classic within the boxing community.
