It's been three years to the day since England won the U19 European Championship.

Keith Downing's young side beat Portugal 2-1 in the final out in Georgia, with goals from Easah Suliman and Dujon Sterling securing the Three Lions' tenth title in the competition's history.

After the victory, Downing said: "These boys are talented youngsters. There are six under the age of 18 but they showed their resilience as well as quality."

So the question has to be asked; how many of the players who were named in the 17-man squad for the final have made it big in the three years since?

The answer is sadly, not many. In fact, only three or four players could be labelled as 'regulars' in Premier League match day squads these days.

GK - Aaron Ramsdale (Bournemouth)

One of the success stories. Ramsdale is now Bournemouth's number one, but he and the Cherries could be playing Championship football next season.

RB - Dujon Sterling (Chelsea)

Despite scoring in the final and playing a starring role throughout the tournament for England, Sterling is yet to make a senior appearance for Chelsea after average loan spells at Coventry and Wigan.

CB - Easah Suliman (Vitoria de Guimaraes)

Like Sterling, Suliman's goal in the final counted for little as he failed to break into Aston Villa's senior team. Since moving to Portugal back in January, the 22-year-old has played just four games.

CB - Darnell Johnson (Leicester)

Emile Heskey's godson has found the going tough in professional football. The defender is yet to make a senior appearance for the Foxes and played just one game while on-loan at Hibernian in 2019.

LB - Jay Dasilva (Bristol City)

After no luck breaking into Chelsea's first-team, Dasilva completed a permanent move to Bristol in 2019 and he's now a regular starter for the Championship club.

MID - Tayo Edun (Lincoln City)

Edun made just two senior appearances for boyhood club Fulham before joining League One outfit Lincoln.

MID - Andre Dozzell (Ipswich Town)

The 21-year-old has spent the entirety of his young career with Ipswich thus far, making 47 appearances for the club and scoring three goals.

MID - Mason Mount (Chelsea)

The biggest success story from this squad. Mount is now a regular at Chelsea and has also featured in Gareth Southgate's England squads of late.

FWD - Isaac Buckley-Ricketts (Without a club)

After failing to make the grade at Manchester City, Buckley-Ricketts joined Peterborough in 2018 where he failed to make a single appearance before leaving the club in 2019. He's now a free agent.

FWD - Ryan Sessengon (Tottenham)

Jose Mourinho is reluctant to play the former Fulham man at the moment, but there's no denying Sessengon's talent.

FWD - Lukas Nmecha (Middlesbrough, on-loan from Man City)

Born in Germany, Nmecha is now with Die Mannschaft's U21 side, but it's highly unlikely he'll be lining up for City anytime soon. In his 12 games for 'Boro this season, the striker has failed to score or assist a goal.

SUB - Nathan Trott (AFC Wimbledon, on-loan from West Ham)

The 21-year-old 'keeper has enjoyed a pretty successful loan spell in League One this season, making 23 appearances for Wimbledon and keeping four clean sheets.

SUB - Reece James (Chelsea)

Despite not actually coming off the bench in the final, James is now pretty much a regular at Chelsea and is revered as one of the most exciting youngsters on the planet.

SUB - Jacob Maddox (Southampton, on-loan from Chelsea)

Following sub-par loan spells at Cheltenham and Tranmere, Maddox was sent to Southampton on a temporary basis for 2019/20 and guess what? He's yet to make an appearance for the first-team.

SUB - Josh Dasilva (Brentford)

The Arsenal academy graduate was sold by the Gunners to Brentford in 2018 and he's become a regular for the Championship club, with the defensive midfielder scoring 10 goals in 62 games.

SUB - Marcus Edwards (Vitoria de Guimaraes)

The man once likened to Lionel Messi. After spending the 2018/19 season on loan at Excelsior from Tottenham, Edwards joined Vitoria permanently in 2019, where he's scored eight goals and notched nine assists in 33 appearances.

SUB - Ben Brereton (Blackburn Rovers)

Since joining Rovers from Nottingham Forest, goals have been nigh on impossible to come by for Brereton, with the young striker scoring just once in 43 appearances.
