Man spends entire honeymoon savings on elite gaming PC worth over £6,000

Gaming, like any other professional sport, requires dedication, resilience and sacrifice to make it to the top.

One man has been willing to sacrifice more than most, splashing his entire honeymoon savings on a gaming PC – much to the dismay of his fiancée.

The news has been doing the rounds on social media after a woman took to Reddit sub-forum R/relationship_advice to seek advice.

She claimed that her soon-to-be-husband splashed savings put aside for their wedding and honeymoon on the new gaming equipment, and has subsequently neglected his role in their relationship.

The savings are said to have amounted to $8,000 (£6,350) and, rather unsurprisingly, the woman’s fiancé has since become engrossed in video games.

“Last month my fiance’s best friend bought a new gaming pc,” posted ThrowRA-rowaray. “My fiancé wanted to buy one, so he asked me, but I denied it because we both already had laptops. I told him that he can play games on the laptop that he already has. He repeatedly kept asking me if he could buy a pc and I finally agreed to it (now I regret it so badly)."

Not only did the man treat himself to a brand-new gaming PC, but he also purchased an accompanying game chair and table.

It did not take long for the bride-to-be to suss out that such a ridiculous spend meant he had to dig into savings. With the entire wedding fund now completely wiped out, this fiancé now has some work to do to replenish the trust he has lost, though, it doesn’t seem he is on the right tracks.

“I thought anything worse than this couldn't happen at this moment, but it has,” continued the post from ThrowRA-rowaray.

“It has been about 2 weeks since he got the pc and since then, my fiancé hasn't gotten up from his new chair. Ever since he got the pc, he hasn't even seen my face. The only time he talks to me is when he is hungry, he calls to me and tells me to get him something to eat/drink […] He has also 100% stopped doing all the house chores.”

There is no doubt that the money to be made in professional gaming is mega, and that new-era sports are growing in revenue to rival the conventional.

However, dedication should most definitely be balanced with discipline, and discipline does still mean doing the dishes.

If, like other sports, the stakes are high, then there is also a lot to risk. English footballer Peter Crouch famously answered that if he were not a footballer, he would probably be ‘a virgin’.

So, perhaps the man in question may want to consider taking a break from his gaming screen for the sake of his future marriage.
