Everton suddenly look like a team in trouble all over again.

The Toffees may no longer have anything to play for this season but their campaign is rather beginning to peter out.

Carlo Ancelotti's men have failed to win their last three games, suffering defeats to both Tottenham and Wolves in the process.

They were losses that look as though they could begin to undo all of the hard work the Italian has done on Merseyside.

He has taken them from a side heading towards the bottom of the table to one again on the cusp of a top-half finish.

Ancelotti clears has a project in mind and with a full summer transfer window to help him, Everton could become even better.

After all, it's fixtures against the likes of Wolves where their supporters are likely to judge them the most if they're to secure a place in Europe.

Recruitments will evidently be needed but one player they've been constantly linked with is a defender at Barcelona.

Jean-Clair Todibo is clearly on Marcel Brands' wishlist but following previous reports, there has been a fresh update on his future.

According to Spanish publication Sport (via Sport Witness), Barca have a 'firm offer' from Everton to sign the player.

Supposedly, Roma are the favourites to acquire Todibo as prefers a move to Serie A, rather than England.

However, the Toffees are willing to pay the €20m (£18.1m) fee required to lure him away from the Catalan giants.

It's thought that Everton's good relationship with Barcelona could help them in negotiations.

Todibo

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

It remains to be seen what happens with Mason Holgate this summer, a player linked with Manchester City, but if he does indeed depart, signing someone like Todibo would be a huge boost.

At just 20, he clearly has an immense future, evidenced by the fact the's already played in the Champions League, Bundesliga, La Liga and Ligue 1.

Though, the biggest compliment of all comes in the form of being compared to one of France's great defenders of the modern era.

Todibo

After Barcelona signed him in early 2019, he was dubbed the new Raphael Varane, a centre-back who has won multiple European titles with Real Madrid.

He is clearly a promising player and Todibo only needs to look at the way Everton have developed some of Barcelona's previous players.

Lucas Digne, Yerry Mina and Andre Silva have all arrived from Catalonia, becoming key fixtures in the side.

That should encourage the French defender greatly.
