Liverpool’s talismanic defender Virgil van Dijk made a rare mistake to gift Arsenal a goal on Wednesday evening.
The Dutchman, who has hardly put a foot wrong since joining the Reds from Southampton in 2018, was caught in possession on the edge of his own box.
After being dispossessed by Reiss Nelson, Van Dijk watched on helplessly as the ball rolled through to Lacazette, who made no mistake.
Arsenal’s French striker rounded Alisson Becker in the Liverpool goal and coolly slotted into the empty net.
Van Dijk felt the goal should have been disallowed for a foul - but referee Paul Tierney allowed it to stand.

That’s only the second time in his Liverpool career that he’s made an error which has directly led to a goal in the Premier League.
Arsenal then took the lead shortly before half-time following *another* rare error from the visitors.
This time it was Alisson who messed up, allowing Nelson to put the Gunners 2-1 up in the process...
