We all know that Jose Mourinho is one of the biggest sh*thouses in football history. From charging down the touchline at Old Trafford after his Porto side knocked out Manchester United in the Champions League to poking the late Tito Vilanova in the eye during an El Clasico tie in 2011 and everything in between. From celebrating wildly on the Camp Nou pitch after his Inter side progressed to the Champions League final to denying Liverpool the 2013/14 Premier League title with dirty tactics. has been there and done it - and he doesn’t care who he upsets in the process. But arguably his most outrageous moment came back in 2010 during a Champions League match between his Real Madrid side and Ajax.p1edc4hi4hn4u1v8n5mn1jhr5esb.jpgReal were winning 4-0 in their penultimate group match and were set to secure top spot ahead of their final match against Auxerre. But Mourinho was already looking ahead of the knockout stages. He realised that star players Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos had picked up yellow cards earlier in the match. The problem with that was the Spanish duo would carry that yellow card into the knockout stages - or be suspended if they picked up another yellow in the match against Auxerre. Therefore, Mourinho decided he would ‘wipe their slate clean’ by ensuring they were sent off. The pair would then be suspended for the game against Auxerre and ready to play the knockout rounds with a clean record.p1edc4krf117a31tgp9hn6022ddd.jpgBut it was far from subtle. With his side 4-0 ahead in the second half, Mourinho told reserve goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek the plan. Dudek ran around the pitch and told Iker Casillas, who in turn whispered in Ramos’ ear.p1edc4m3hk1lim184ge6i1iq713fnf.jpgAlonso clearly got wind of the tactic as he received a second yellow card in the 87th-minute for time-wasting. Yes, time-wasting when you’re already 4-0 up with just a few minutes left.Ramos surely wouldn’t be so obvious.Wrong.Ramos decided the best way for him to secretly get himself sent off was to take a goal-kick - and take ages doing so.

The ref wasn’t having any of it and also gave him a second yellow. And if all that wasn’t obvious enough, Ramos then shook the hand of Scottish referee Craig Thomson after he showed him a red card.

Unsurprisingly, Real Madrid were punished. We can’t imagine UEFA’s investigation took too long.

"Players Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos were fined €20,000, Iker Casillas was fined €10,000 and Jerzy Dudek was fined €5,000 euros," UEFA said in a statement.

"The red cards given to Alonso and Ramos stand, and they have therefore been suspended for one Uefa club competition match. The control and disciplinary body has decided to fine Real Madrid CF €120,000. An appeal may be lodged against the ruling within three days of the dispatch of the reasoning for the decision."

We imagine all those involved would never try such a stunt again.

Oh wait, Ramos picked up a deliberate card against…Ajax in 2019 and was slapped with a two-match UEFA ban. Ramos thought Real were through as they led 2-1 away from home in the first leg. They proceeded to lose 4-1 at the Bernabeu with Ramos watching on from the stands.
