At the moment, Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp are already on the beach.

And who can blame them? The Reds wrapped up the Premier League title a few weeks ago and have had nothing else to play for.

Of course, a record points tally was on the cards but then they arrived in north London.

Step forward Virgil van Dijk and Alisson - two of the players behind Liverpool's remarkable rise in the last couple of years.

The duo committed atrocious errors, being caught in possession and then making a stray pass as they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against Arsenal.

Klopp's men certainly weren't poor in the final third but they were met with a sea of red whenever they tried to put the ball into the penalty area.

It was a loss that won't affect Liverpool too much, but they'll have to iron out those defensive errors next term.

One player who could improve Liverpool next season is Thiago Alcantara.

The Bayern Munich midfielder has been linked with a move to the Reds this summer, a move that could cost over £30m according to the Independent.

Thiago is currently valued at £43.2m according to Transfermarkt so if the Reds do pursue him, Michael Edwards will have to pay a pretty penny.

However, their hopes of signing him may have just taken a boost. Former Liverpool man Didi Hamann was speaking about the Spaniard in the press recently and had the following to say about Thiago.

"At 29, he doesn’t quite fit the profile of the Reds’ purchasing policy."

“Nevertheless, a transfer would make sense in my eyes.

“That (€25-30m) would be a very good deal in Corona times, Liverpool certainly wants to keep the price down. Thiago certainly has brilliant moments; I like to watch him. But the hard facts are: Bayern was never in a Champions League final with him.

“The bottom line is still the most likely option for me is that he goes to Liverpool.”

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

Regardless of whether Thiago fits into Liverpool's transfer policy, they'd be absolute fools to pass up the opportunity to sign him.

The midfielder is a superb player, rising up through the ranks of Barcelona's La Masia academy before signing for Bayern Munich.

The 29-year-old, who recently won the DFB Pokal with Bayern, racked up just the three goals this term, but his pass success rate of 90% speaks for itself.

Thiago

With that in mind, it's hardly a surprise he's been compared to one of the best Spanish footballers ever - Xavi Hernandez.

On top of that, there have also been similarities drawn with Andres Iniesta.

They are only natural given his ability to turn opponents inside out and complete a pass. He'd be a stellar addition to the Premier League.
