The race to become Scottish champions next year is already very much underway.

While Rangers have aspirations of kicking on next term and providing viable competition, the target at Parkhead is much more ambitious.

Coming away as Champions next term will mean that Celtic have made in 10 titles in a row - something that their rivals will certainly find difficult to stomach.

However if the Bhoys are to do that then they'll need to make sure that they make a success of the summer's transfer market.

Several players have already been linked with a move to Parkhead - most of those being attacking stars.

One of the club's top targets this summer appears to be Daniel Podence.

Reports from The Mirror have claimed that Neil Lennon is keen to bring the Wolves star in on loan next term.

Podence arrived at Molineux in January this year but has struggled for regular starts in Nuno Espirito Santo's side.

That has led to reports that he could be available on a short-term basis to aid his development.

Celtic will be hoping that the lure of Champions League football could be enough to attract the winger, but according to Alex Bruce, there's going to be no shortage of suitors for his signature.

Speaking to Football Insider, Bruce said: “He should go out on loan.

“He has enjoyed a season of being a part of what has been an amazing season for Wolves and he will have learned a lot.

“He has not played a lot of football and next season is it really going to change? Traore might be sold but it looks unlikely at this moment. I would want to play football.

“I could see that move happening but there will be a few clubs queuing up to take Podence, I am sure.”

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

What a deal this would be for Celtic.

Daniel Podence is an incredibly talented player who has a very bright future ahead of him in the Premier League.

Wolves certainly see him as part of their long-term plans, but after joining the club halfway through the season he's found opportunities limited.

That said, we've already seen enough to know that he's got quality.

A move to Parkhead could be huge for both the player and the club.

Podence would make a massive impact in Scotland and would be an excellent addition as Neil Lennon looks to win the club's 10th title in a row.

Add into that the regular first team football and opportunity to play in the Champions League, and you start to see why this move could appeal to Podence.

Whether it comes off remains to be seen, but it certainly is one that would get fans very excited.
