What a season it could be for Leeds United.

With the Whites currently sitting at the top of the Championship it seems that promotion is very much on the cards.

If they can get themselves over the line it would end a 16-year exile from the Premier League.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side are just a few points from wrapping up their promotion, and that means that attention will now turn to the summer transfer market.

Plenty of players will be a linked with a move over the coming weeks and months, but in truth only a handful will be a plausible targets.

But that doesn’t mean that the hard work isn’t being put in behind the scenes.

If they’re to survive in the Premier League they’ll need new additions and it seems that a familiar target is being discussed again.

That man, of course, is Ben White.

The 22-year-old has been a revelation for Marcelo Bielsa’s side this term after being a virtual ever-present in the Championship.

In fact, he’s been so impressive that reports have suggested that he’s attracting interest from the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Leicester City.

Leeds have all-but secured promotion to the Premier League, and that means that they can start to step up their interest in such players.

The task of convincing Ben White to move to West Yorkshire on a permanent deal could be tricky given the interest in the player, however according to former striker Jermaine Beckford, he must be the club’s top priority.

Speaking on Sky Sports about the prospect of signing White, Beckford said: “I would say absolutely.

“I think he’s been phenomenal this season for Leeds United. I don’t think there’s been many, if any, better centre-halves than him.

“He controls the game really well, he reads it really well. He’s physical player, he’ll put his foot through the ball when he needs to, but he’ll also calm the play down, and he’ll pick out beautiful passes.

“I would say make that signing him number one priority”.

GIVEMESPORT’S Phil Spencer says…

Signing Ben White would be a huge coup for Leeds United.

The defender has shown that he has all of the attributes to be a top defender in the Premier League.

Since moving to Elland Road he has been nothing short of a revelation after proving himself as a perfect fit for Marcelo Bielsa and his system.

In truth, I think that even Brighton have been surprised by how well he’s done.

It’s worth remembering that he’s still a part of Graham Potter’s side, and given the fact that they’re all-but safe in the Premier League, there’s every chance that they will be planning to build the team around him next term.

The Seagulls will undoubtedly have big plans for the defender, and that means that any club will have to pay a big sum if they’re to sell.
