Manchester United have been on a mission since football has returned post-lockdown. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side haven't lost any of their eight fixtures since the resumption, winning six and drawing two. They are now serious contenders for Champions League football too. United may still be fifth, but they are level on points with fourth-placed Leicester and just one behind Chelsea in third. It's tight at the top, but don't bet against The Red Devils sneaking into Europe's elite competition. But you could, perhaps, bet against Jesse Lingard playing an important role in United's resurgence. That's what one football fan has done, anyway. Lingard hasn't been involved much since the restartAntony Johnson has gone viral on Twitter after revealing he's bet money on Lingard failing to score or assist a goal in the entire 2019/20 season. He's shared a photo of his bet slip with the caption 'Lingard making me sweat tonight. 36 down, 2 to go." Check it out below:

Wow. Antony could make £135.30 off a simple £3.30 wager if the England international fails to contribute to a goal against West Ham or Leicester.

Considering Lingard has only made the squad for two of Man United's seven Premier League fixtures since the restart, Antony will probably be fancying his chances.

Fair play to him for taking a punt on Lingard's misfortune way back in August.

Lingard has struggled this season

While the midfielder has failed to register a goal or assist in the league, he has fared slightly better in cup competitions.

He netted against Astana in the group stage of the Europa League and then provided an assist against Club Brugge in the first knockout round.

In the FA Cup, Lingard has scored once - against Tranmere Rovers - while he also set one up against Rochdale in the EFL Cup.

Lingard has provided goals in the cup

But for a player who has featured 37 times in all competitions this season, two goals and two assists isn't anywhere near good enough for a Man United player.
