It's set to be a big summer for Tottenham Hotspur.

After a difficult campaign the North London side will be putting the wheels in motion to challenge for a top four spot next term.

A Champions League position is all-but out of the question this season, and so that means that efforts must be doubled once the transfer window opens.

If Jose Mourinho is to get his side back on track, it's like that Spurs will need wholesale reinforcements.

One position that is surprisingly being targeted is in attack.

Harry Kane has occupied the striker's role during the last five seasons, but with speculation over his future it seems that the North London club are tracking several other targets.

At the top of that list is Arkadiusz Milik.

GiveMeSport exclusively revealed that the North London side were considering a part-exchange for the Napoli forward, with Erik Lamela tipped to go the other way.

A swap deal could be a plausible option, however Napoli are also open to a deal in the region of £35-45m to get it done.

It's claimed that a deal is likely to be struck, with only the specifics to be ironed out.

However according to Football London's Alasdair Gold, such a move could be hard to broker while Harry Kane is still at the club.

Writing for Football London, Gold said: "He appears to be someone Jose Mourinho likes the look of but his agent has been making noises about the old Harry Kane problem and a lack of game time.

"It's something that seems to dog Spurs more than other club, perhaps because they so rarely play with two up front and Kane is just so dominant."

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This could certainly be one to watch for Spurs fans.

A move for Arkadiusz Milik would certainly be quite the scoop given the club's struggles on the pitch.

Tottenham will have been targeting a place in the Champions League next term, however that now seems unlikely.

As a result, it means that Jose Mourinho's side may struggle to compete for the best players in the world with many prioritising a chance to play in Europe's elite competition.

However if they can convince him to join, it could be just the boost that they need to put themselves back in contention next term.

That said, Alasdair Gold does have a point regarding Harry Kane.

With Kane such an influential figure at Spurs, it seems unlikely that a striker will come to the club only to play the role of back-up to the England striker.

For me, it seems like a deal that may have to be pursued once Harry Kane leaves the club, otherwise I just can't see the new addition lasting.
