Rangers FC have big plans to take back the city of Glasgow.

It's been their rivals Celtic who have dominated Scottish football in recent years after securing nine-straight Premiership titles.

But with the 10th in their sights, Steven Gerrard's side will have ambitions of taking the next title back to Ibrox.

If they're to do that, Rangers will need to strengthen in the transfer market.

News emerged this week that Celtic were in the market for one of West Ham's young players.

However, reports late on Tuesday then confirmed that Rangers were also considering a move for the same man.

That happens to be Grady Diangana, a 22-year-old currently plying his trade on loan at West Bromwich Albion.

The Herald have suggested that the Gers are ready to battle it out with Celtic in order to sign him and both parties have already made contact with the player's representatives.

Rangers are believed to have been close to acquiring the player last summer before they ended up pursuing other targets.

Back in January, it was claimed that West Ham would be open to selling the player but only at a price of £20m. He may, therefore, set Ross Wilson back a considerable amount.

One man who knows Diangana better than most is former Rangers loanee Kyle Bartley.

The defender is currently playing alongside the tricky winger at West Brom, and claims that he dreads having to take on the 22-year-old in training.

Talking about Diangana to The Express and Star, Bartley said: "If ever I’ve got a choice of being on their team then I make sure I am!

"And if not then I think I told Grady the other day to swap wings because he was on the wing near me and I didn’t want anything to do with it.

“He’s just so quick. One second he’s there and the next second he’s scored a goal and I’m thinking ‘how’s that happened?’

“He’s been great but as have all the boys.”

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

Grady Diangana is likely to be in high demand this summer.

After being so impressive for West Brom this term, it seems that he's destined for a move to a higher level.

Rangers, Celtic and West Brom are said to be keen, and there's no doubt that he'd be a real asset to both sides.

£20m is a significant fee, but if he can show some of the impressive form that he has in the Championship this term, it could be money well spent.

However it remains to be seen whether West Ham would be willing to let him go at all.

That said, these clubs need to be moving heaven and earth to snap up the talented winger.

Diangana has the potential to be a top player and with the winger seemingly being available it could be the perfect time to make such an exciting transfer.

The 22-year-old would be sensational in Scotland and it'll be very exciting to see if Celtic or Rangers can come out on top as they look to tie up a deal in the coming weeks and months.
