UFC fans are eagerly awaiting the return of Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The Russian fighter has now been inactive for over a year since his victory over Dustin Poirier back in June 2019 at UFC 242.

There have been fears of late that Khabib would retire from the sport altogether after the tragic death of his trainer and father, Abdulmanap due to coronavirus complications.

However, those fears can now be put to bed thanks to Khabib's manager, Ali Abdelaziz.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, the Egyptian stand that 'The Eagle' will be back in action this year and he is just waiting on an announcement from Dana White.

Khabib will be returning to the UFC

Whisper it quietly, but it looks we're getting Khabib versus Justin Gaethje for the lightweight championship in 2020!

"Khabib is not retiring," Abdelaziz, who also manages Gaethje, said. "Khabib, you know, he has some goals, he has some things to accomplish. I'm sure Dana's going to let everybody know when is Khabib going to fight.

"We have a blockbuster main event: (Khabib) versus Justin Gaethje. Two of the best lightweights in the world today in the recent era.

"'We see what Justin Gaethje did to his last opponent. He dismantled Tony Ferguson, he made him look an absolute amateur."

Khabib will be returning to the UFC

When pushed to give an exact date for Khabib's return, Abdelaziz added: "This is Dana White's job, he's the promoter, I don't want to speak on his behalf, but you will see Khabib before the end of the year."

"Dana White should be the one delivering the news. It's not my position to tell you, but everything is lovely, and you'll see Khabib and Justin fighting before the year for sure."

White has previously commented that the bout could take place at UFC 253 on the franchise's 'Fight Island' in September.

After Abdelaziz's latest revelations, that outcome is looking ever more likely and honestly, we cannot wait!
