Harry Maguire endured an afternoon to forget as Manchester United were knocked out of the FA Cup by Chelsea. The 27-year-old scored an own goal as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were outclassed at Wembley Stadium.Maguire’s £80 million transfer fee has heightened the scrutiny on him in his debut season at Man United and it’s fair to say he hasn’t truly met expectations.Indeed, his own goal against Chelsea wasn’t even his most embarrassing moment of the match. The centre-back went viral on social media when he attempted to play the ball out of defence, only to dither in possession before passing it straight to Marcos Alonso.

That moment, along with the own goal, is more than enough for rival fans who relish watching Maguire’s struggles.

But an entire compilation of his disappointing performance has been made and it’s gone viral on Twitter.

From struggling with Olivier Giroud to being turned in the middle of the pitch by Tammy Abraham, the video doesn’t make for pleasant viewing for Man United fans.

A reminder, not that you needed one, that Maguire cost £80 million.

When he joined the club from Leicester City last summer, the centre-back pleaded to be given time to be judged.

And in an ideal world, that would have been fair.

But Man United fans have watched Virgil van Dijk arrive at Liverpool and instantly transform their defence around, so similar results were expected of Maguire.

He’s certainly not been helped by the shaky performances of David de Gea behind him, with the Spaniard at fault for Chelsea’s two other goals on Sunday.

Dean Henderson is expected to be given an opportunity compete for the starting job and who knows, an assured presence between the sticks coupled with a year's experience at Old Trafford could be what Maguire needs.

Maguire should expect another bashing from Rafael van der Vaart.

The former Real Madrid and Tottenham playmaker has hit out at Maguire twice this season, with his latest attacking coming after Man United's recent 5-2 win over Bournemouth.

Maguire was embarrassed by Junior Stanislas before Bournemouth's first goal and Van der Vaart delivered some stinging words on Dutch TV afterwards.

"I think Maguire goes home every day and tells his wife: 'I'm so s*** at football, but I earn so much. They really believe I'm good,’” the former Dutch international said on Ziggo Sport.

"I really think so, he laughs at everyone."

Unfortunately for Maguire, he's just given Van der Vaart even more ammunition.
