Developer Ubisoft have revealed a new cinematic trailer ahead of the release of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla later this year.
The trailer follows the game’s protagonist Eivor alongside his fellow Viking invaders, and offers subtle details in the warrior’s back story and potential fate as he helps conquer Britain.
The trailer shows a selection of beautiful landscapes and weaponry, as well as hordes of different types of enemies and the brutal combat we have grown accustomed to from the franchise.
Traversing the rugged terrain looks to be covered as well, as Eivor can be seen commanding Viking longships and riding around on horseback.
“Glory awaits you Eivor, but it will cost you. Everything,” can be heard from the narrator of the trailer, leading to speculation from fans as to how players’ choices may affect the storyline.
One of the most anticipated games of the year, Ubisoft’s stunning reimagining of Norse mythology and the Viking invasion of Britain certainly looks the part. The trailer seems to capture the essence and brutality of war perfectly, whilst also showing Eivor’s more personal side with nods to his family.
You can watch the trailer below.
Interestingly, the trailer portrays Eivor as male. The game’s director Eric Baptizat has recently stated how gamers get the choice as to whether Eivor will be played as male or female, commenting: “It was important to make this option available for the player.”
Whilst Eivor is male for now, a comic book spinoff of the game will see the Viking portrayed as a female by Dark Horse Comics.
You can get your hands on Assassin’s Creed Valhalla when it launches on November 17 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia, before coming to the next generation when they launch.
