Liverpool teed up their Premier League trophy ceremony in style with a thrilling 5-3 win over Chelsea on Wednesday night. It was a stunning reminder of why Liverpool's champions are one of the most entertaining sides the competition has ever seen, threatening to run away with a rout one minute and almost collapsing to a shock comeback the next. But the Reds got the party started in the first-half with what looked to be the perfect display with which to celebrate - and their opening goal was truly something special.

Chelsea threaten comeback

Naby Keita popped up with a rare strike, but a spectacular one at that, unleashing a rocket of a strike past Kepa Arrizabalaga via the crossbar.

It looked to put Liverpool well on course to a comfortable victory with Trent Alexander-Arnold doubling the advantage via a superb free-kick; his second set-piece goal against the Blues this season.

Georginio Wijnaldum then made it 3-0 with a fine, snapping volley, but Chelsea gave themselves hope before half-time when Olivier Giroud converted his latest close-range finish.

Goal crazy at Anfield

However, any initial fears of a 'reverse Istanbul' looked to be annulled when Roberto Firmino finally scored his first league goal at Anfield this season from a stunning Alexander-Arnold cross.

But for whatever reason, the nerves started to jangle amongst the Premier League champions and a few moments of inspiration from Christian Pulisic proved pivotal in almost turning things around.

The American went on a mazy run past four defenders on the left flank, turning provider for Tammy Abraham who offered hope for Frank Lampard's with a goal straight from the bench.

And then Pulisic took things into his own hands to astonishingly elevate Chelsea to 4-3, using some fine footwork in the penalty area before firing the ball past Alisson Becker and into the net.

Oxlade-Chamberlain rests the nerves

However, trust Jurgen Klopp to essentially win the game for Liverpool with one of his latest inspired decisions, taking off Mohamed Salah for eventual match-winner Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The Reds broke from one end of the pitch to the other in a brilliant sweeping move with the ball eventually falling to the former Arsenal man, who brilliantly finished past Arrizabalaga.

It couldn't have been a crazier, more dramatic and entertaining way for Liverpool to wrap up their incredible season.

Liverpool, astonishingly, have now gone three Premier League seasons unbeaten at Anfield and the Jordan Henderson shuffle is just a few minutes away...
