Liverpool made history by lifting the Premier League trophy against Chelsea on Wednesday night.

The Reds were forced to wait 30 years to end their league title drought, three months to find out whether the season would even resume and 27 days until they could get their hands on the silverware.

So, it must have come as a huge relief for Jurgen Klopp's squad to lift the trophy they've been chasing for almost a year, even if Liverpool fans were forced to stay at home for the celebrations.

Liverpool get their hands on the trophy

Nevertheless, there was still plenty for the supporters to enjoy on their televisions screens with the Reds running out 5-3 victors and putting on an incredible trophy-lifting ceremony in the Kop.

And amongst the absolute limbs when Jordan Henderson held aloft the Premier League trophy with his iconic 'shuffle' was somebody who had been there before: James Milner.

The 34-year-old might not play regularly for the Merseysiders, but his influence at the club is undoubtable and Wednesday marked the third time he's collected a Premier League winners' medal.

Milner joins the history-makers

Milner was an underrated star in the Manchester City teams which won the title in 2011/12 and 2013/14, meaning he can now take residence in one of English football's most exclusive clubs.

That's because just 11 players have ever been crowned Premier League champions with two different clubs and Milner is the most recent inclusion with his stunning achievement at Anfield.

So, in celebration of Milner's feat and just how difficult it is to achieve, we've decided to list the 11 players who have conquered the world's most competitive league in more ways than one:

1. Riyad Mahrez - Leicester City and Manchester City

Mahrez was the PFA award-winning inspiration behind Leicester's 5,000-1 miracle and although he only played a minor role in City's title success last season, the Algerian is slowly becoming a key figure at the Etihad Stadium.

2. Ashley Cole - Arsenal and Chelsea

Warnings in advance, this list doesn't make particularly good reading for Arsenal fans and the affectionately remembered 'Cashley Cole' is the first of three 'Invincibles' on this list.

The legendary left-back won two Premier League titles during his spell at Highbury, before scoring the final goal in Chelsea's romp to glory under Carlo Ancelotti during the 2009/10 campaign.

3. Kolo Toure - Arsenal and Manchester City

What did I tell you? Toure was another 'Invincible' who ditched the Gunners once the trophies started drying up, though he only made 14 appearances in City's first title-winning season in 2011/12.

4. N'Golo Kante - Leicester City and Chelsea

Like Mahrez, Kante sought a more traditional Premier League force after making history at Leicester and he fitted hand-in-glove with Antonio Conte's free-scoring champions of the 2016/17 campaign.

The ever-loveable Frenchman, who also has a World Cup winners' medal, even won the PFA Player of the Year award that season to boot.

5. Gael Clichy - Arsenal and Manchester City

And another one. Clichy admittedly played a very minor role in the 'Invincibles' season, but did go on to make 264 appearances for the Gunners before - you guessed it - switching allegiances to City.

The French left-back was part of Roberto Mancini and Manuel Pellegrini's title-winning squads in 2011/12 and 2013/14 respectively.

6. Carlos Tevez - Manchester United and Manchester City

There's no denying this is the biggest betrayal on the list, ditching back-to-back titles at Old Trafford to eventually lift silverware with City in a season where he spent months in self-enforced exile.

7. Nicolas Anelka - Arsenal and Chelsea

The Premier League 100-club member has the special distinction of almost winning England's top flight with three clubs after finishing in second place during the 2001/02 campaign at Liverpool.

Nevertheless, we're sure 'Le Sulk' won't be complaining with his ribbon from 1997/98 at Highbury and 2009/10 with Chelsea.

8. Henning Berg - Blackburn Rovers and Manchester United

Ah yes, the first player in Premier League history to achieve the feat, initially playing 42 times in Blackburn's historic season and then adding two more medals, including a treble, to his collection at Old Trafford.

9. Mark Schwarzer - Chelsea and Leicester City

The fact Schwarzer qualifies for this list is comedy gold, collecting back-to-back championship medals with Chelsea and Leicester despite playing a grand total of zero games. You love to see it.

10. Robert Huth - Chelsea and Leicester City

When Huth profited from Jose Mourinho's early success at Chelsea, nobody was under any illusion that the young centre-back was having as much influence as John Terry or Ricardo Carvalho.

But the defensive destroyer took centre-stage when Leicester miraculously won the Premier League in 2016, making himself and Wes Morgan look like, well, Terry and Carvalho.

11. James Milner - Manchester City and Liverpool

And that brings us to the man who inspired this list, number 11: Milner himself.

It only feels right that one of the Premier League's highest appearance makers would find himself in this exclusive club and you wouldn't put it past him to make it two league titles at each club next season...

Such an exclusive club

Welcome to the club, James.

It will light up the eyes of Kopites to see 'Liverpool' featuring on these sort of lists for the very first time and it certainly isn't from without the realms of possibility for them to retain their title next year.

The record points tally might be out of their hands after losing to Arsenal, but victory over Newcastle United on the final day would prop them up to an incredible silver medal of 99 points.

Sadly, it can only be imagined that Milner's role will diminish further as he continues to age, though we don't doubt for a second that he'll give everything for the club if Klopp calls on him.

Besides, you don't win the Premier League title with two clubs without working hard - well, expect maybe Schwarzer - and few players have ever put in more of a graft than Milner.

No doubt he'll be smashing the Ribena already...
