Eric Young was a little-used asset during his time in WWE.

The 40-year-old signed for the company in 2016, leaving behind TNA after a 12-year stay in the promotion.

When he first moved to WWE, he was teamed up with Killian Dain, Alexander Wolfe, and Nikki Cross in the NXT stable sAnitY.

They had a few successes, with Young and Wolfe holding the NXT Tag Team Championship at one point.

He was promoted to the main roster in 2018, moving to SmackDown, and sAnitY even defeated The New Day in a tables match at Extreme Rules.

However, they were disbanded after losing to The Miz in a handicap match – yes, you read that right – and Young was drafted to Raw in 2019.

He wrestled in just five matches on the show, though, including one dark match against Titus O’Neil, which he lost, in December, per Cagematch.

He left, perhaps unsurprisingly, amid the COVID-19 pandemic as Vince McMahon implemented cost-cutting measures.

Speaking on Busted Open radio earlier this week, Young slammed the process in WWE, insisting that McMahon is the root of all evil in the company.

TalkSport transcribed his quotes, as Young insists that there is precious little room to thrive in WWE.

He said: “We don’t need to go on and on about it, but the system is broken. It’s hard to get a word in. Even when you’re doing nothing, it feels like you’re just trying to fix people’s mistakes all day. There is no creativity.

“They want everyone to do things the same and be the same and bump the same and sell the same. And there’s millions of rules, which I’m sure you guys have all heard and talked about on the show at length, and people talk about on the internet.

“The secret rules. Those change daily and it’s just really hard to understand what’s going on and why it’s going on. The system is flawed. And I would say that to anyone there. I would say it to Vince himself.”

On his interactions with McMahon, he added: “I said my piece to him. He seemed to be responsive to it. And nothing ever came from it.

“I don’t take it personally. He made a mistake and, as a leader of the company and the person that decides everything, it’s a massive mistake to pass on somebody with me.

“You have a three-hour television show and you can’t find five minutes for Eric Young? Your show is broken. It’s as simple as that.

“I’ve proven that I can do whatever. Any role. I’m not saying I can do it. I’ve already done it and I’ve proven that I can do it and do it very well.

“So, for me, it’s a huge miss. A huge mistake. And now it’s someone else’s gain. And, personally, it’s my gain. My soul hasn’t felt this good in a long time. That’s just the truth.”

Young is currently working in IMPACT, and he wrestled in a five-way elimination match for the world title last week, losing to Eddie Edwards.

Given he moved promotion and instantly wrestled in a main event, one has to think that he made the right call.
