It's been an unforgettable season for Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson. After lifting the Premier League trophy on Wednesday evening, the 30-year-old was deservedly named the Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year yesterday. It's amazing to think that back in 2012, Brendan Rodgers was eager to sell Henderson to Fulham in exchange for Clint Dempsey.Eight years later and the former Sunderland man is a bonafide Liverpool legend and one of the greatest captains the club has ever had.Jurgen Klopp has helped transform Henderson's career and the Reds boss even made his fearless leader shed a tear with a video message. The Football Football Writers' Association captured the touching moment between the two Liverpool icons and you can watch it in full below.

Klopp said to his inspirational captain: "Hi, my friend.

"One of the big questions in football what makes a proper player. What is more important? Is it talent or is it attitude?

"I think the easy answer is without talent, you are nothing and without attitude you will stay a talent forever.

"So you are the perfect example that it is the mix which makes the difference. Who would have thought that the young fella coming from Sunderland to Liverpool with big dreams would be one day the best player of the Premier League?

"Maybe you dreamt of it but I'm not sure you thought it would happen. I know you are confident enough to have big dreams but now is there moment where everybody saw what a great player you are, what a great personality you are, what great character you have.

"I know the human being behind the player and you would deserve an award for that as well.

"Many congratulations, very well deserved, outstanding achievement, what a year you had, what a career so far you've had and the best news.. still a lot to come.

"I wish you a wonderful day, enjoy the moment because you don't have to play at Newcastle and, again, best player of the Premier League - wow!"

Who's cutting onions then, eh?

After wiping away the tears and composing himself, Henderson responded with a short but sweet message for his manager.

"Without the gaffer I wouldn't be sitting here so to hear that from him means a lot", Henderson said.

"He knows what I've been through so that's why I'm emotional."
