Neil Lennon’s side are preparing for a potentially historic campaign.

Having won their ninth consecutive title last term, Celtic have their sights set on a memorable 10-in-a-row – signalling the key achievement in a period of dominance.

Of course the struggles of Rangers FC in that time have played a part, but Steven Gerrard’s side are certainly on the way back.

Gerrard will be keen to end Celtic’s time at the top by bringing a long overdue league title back to Ibrox, but the feeling is that the Bhoys are still very much favourites.

But Celtic can’t get complacent, and that means that it’s key that they keep improving in the transfer market as they prepare for the new campaign.

One position that has been tipped as an area to improve is in attacking midfield.

Lennon has put a real emphasis on building for the future and according to reports, it seems that another starlet is being targeted.

The Daily Record have reported that Celtic are interested in Brenden Aaronson.

The 19-year-old plays for Philadelphia Union but is attracting major interest from across Europe.

Dubbed ‘the US Kai Havertz’, Aaronson is attracting the interest of several clubs in the top tier of the German and Belgian leagues.

Since the MLS season resumed, the attacking midfielder has been in impressive form after scoring one goal and getting two assists in Union’s opening five fixtures.

Speaking of his progress,Philadelphia Union coach Jim Curtin said: “Overall we've challenged him from last season... to get better at making the final ball, to get more goal-dangerous,

“And he's really taken the next step. Everybody sees his work rate and ability to run and cover ground and cover distance.

"If he's going to make it as a No. 10 at the very highest level, and that's the ultimate goal for him, he's going to do it by being a volume player, a player that's on the ball all the time.

"And he might make a mistake 3-4 times but he's coming again at full speed. So that's something he's worked hard on: His final pass, his through balls, getting his shot off a little quicker in and around the box.

"He's taken big strides, but the Philadelphia Union, we're going to be greedy and push and demand more of him because he can play even better than he did tonight.

"We're going to continue to push Brenden because we see how much talent he has."

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This could be a very exciting signing if Celtic can pull it off.

Brendan Aaronsen is regarded as one of the hottest prospects outside of Europe and for the Bhoys to sign him would be a big boost.

Neil Lennon is looking to sign high potential players to supplement his Celtic side and the attacking midfielder would certainly fit the bill.

At 19 years of age there’s plenty of time for improvement, but making a move at this age would mean he has plenty of time to learn and adapt to life at Parkhead.

Of course there’s the small matter of beating the competition from Germany and Belgium, but if he’s looking to win league titles then perhaps there’s no better option available.
