What an exciting summer this could be at Elland Road.
After securing promotion to the Premier League, Leeds United are enjoying their moment in the limelight, and rightly so.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side were deserved champions after storming the Championship this term with a robust defence and an attack that was simply stunning at times.
They’re more than deserving of their spot in the top flight next term.
That said, it’d be naive to think that the step up in quality will be easy for Leeds United to handle.
The gulf in class between the top two divisions is huge, and that means that the Whites will need to work hard and smart in the transfer market if they’re to bridge that gap.
As is the way with a promoted side, plenty of players will be linked with a move to Elland Road, with nine out of 10 of them being players that Victor Orta and his recruitment team won’t have even considered.
But that doesn’t mean that all of the names linked are not genuine.
One player who’s been heavily linked in recent weeks is Lucas Martinez Quarta.
Valued at £9million by Transfermarkt, the defender currently plays for River Plate and after an impressive time is being regularly linked with a move to Europe.
A centre-back by trade, the 24-year-old is a potential target for several clubs in the Premier League, while the likes of Celta Vigo, Hertha Berlin, AC Milan and Real Betis are also said to be keen.
But while many clubs have been linked, it seems that Leeds United are stepping up their interest.
Reports in Calcio Mercato have claimed that Marcelo Bielsa’s side are in ‘in-depth’ talks over a move.
Phil Hay has confirmed that the club are interested in Quarta, however there’s been no news of an imminent breakthrough.
However with talks said to be progressing it’s certainly one to watch.

This is certainly a move that seems to be gathering pace.
The defender is certainly a talent and looks destined to make the move to Europe.
With Leeds United now in the Premier League they’ll certainly have a strong chance of making a deal happen, should they decide to pursue it.
The Whites will be scouting the world for potential talent and so it’s a very exciting time to be a fan of the club.
If Leeds can sign 5 or 6 strong additions then they’ll be well-placed next term.
That said, if they overdo it and sign too many players then there’s a genuine risk of upsetting the balance of Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
It’s going to be a balancing act, but the hope is that Leeds United can make a success of what will be a pivotal summer.
