Rangers FC have high hopes for the season ahead. After falling short in the title race last term, Steven Gerrard will be determined to bring the league title back to Ibrox this time around. It will undoubtedly be a tough ask, but there's no chance of them lacking motivation.Celtic are on track to record their 10th league title in a row, something which would be a landmark achievement in an era of dominance for Neil Lennon's side. The Bhoys are certainly favourites, and for Rangers there's nothing that they'd like more than to ruin the party. But if Gerrard's side are to have any chance of mounting a serious title challenge then it'll be crucial to recruit well this summer.A striker is one position that has been heavily tipped as an area of importance, and based on recent reports it seems that that need is even greater than before.p1ee5ias5p1q03l09ghfui01e7k9.jpgAccording to Sky Sports, Alfredo Morelos has agreed personal terms with Lille over a permanent move. The Colombian has been lethal in front of goal since arriving in 2017, scoring a staggering 77 goals in 137 games - a tally that equals more than one goal every two games.Reports emerged last week that the French side were plotting a £15million move, and according to French journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi, that deal is now moving closer.

Of course it remains to be seen whether the two clubs can strike a deal on a transfer fee, however if both sides want to do a deal then it's likely that something can be worked out.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This is a bitter blow for Rangers.

Alfredo Morelos has been a revelation since moving to the club in 2017.

His record of 77 goals in 137 appearances is quite astonishing, and shows exactly why he's so highly rated.

The noises coming out of Ibrox this summer have all suggested that a move could be on the cards, and that certainly seems to be the case now.

While a transfer fee is yet to be agreed, it seems that the writing is on the wall for Morelos now.

He'll certainly go down as a memorable figure in Glasgow who scored plenty of crucial goals.

But as is the way, it's now time for Rangers to move on and find another goalscoring hero.

It remains to be seen who that will be, but if they can attract a substantial fee for Morelos then they'll certainly have options.

Whether that's a player like Lyndon Dykes, or a more costly deal for a player like Ivan Toney, it's bound to be an exciting few weeks as a replacement is lined up.

But with the new season starting soon there's a real pressure to get a deal tied up quickly.
