Edge returned to WWE in January.A massive pop ensued at the Royal Rumble as the superstar from yesteryear clashed with multiple modern-day superstars.He clearly has his eyes on possible future encounters, though he is currently injured.Indeed, two matches with Randy Orton have taken place thus far, at WrestleMania, a brutal Last Man Standing match, and then at Backlash, in the Greatest Wrestling Match Ever.The latter resulted in a torn triceps injury which has left Edge on the sidelines for the foreseeable future.Plans call for a Mania match between Orton and Edge, per reports, but he is already looking beyond that match.
(photo credit: WWE)Speaking on Twitter, he suggested that he could take on Finn Balor, the first ever WWE Universal Champion, at an NXT Takeover.And Balor has now responded to his call.Speaking to the Irish Mirror, he has claimed that he would absolutely love to take on the Rated R Superstar if the opportunity arose.He said: “Somebody was talking online about possibly challenging Finn Balor at NXT Takeover and that was Edge.
“I would like to address that situation right now, Edge was saying he wanted to face Finn Balor at Takeover so if we could do it at Takeover Dublin all the better.
"An absolute legend in the ring, but what an absolute gent and a true pro outside the ring.
"I've always said it to both him and Christian that when they retired, I met them at a couple of media appearances and I said: 'lads, you two are like how I'd look to transition out of wrestling - to carry yourself with such professionalism'. To see him (Edge) back is fantastic.
"Getting the chance to wrestle with him would be even better."

Balor has been dynamite since entering the WWE, winning the Universal Championship, along with the NXT Championship and twice holding the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
A dynamic in-ring presence, pairing him with Edge, himself a four-time WWE Championship and a seven-time World Heavyweight Champion, who looks to be just as good now as he was a decade ago, is a genuinely mouthwatering prospect.
