Brazilian blow for Chelsea

Chelsea’s Brazilian stars Alex and Ramires have both been ruled out of Chelsea’s all important Barclays Premier League match with West Brom on the weekend.

“We have two little problems with Alex and Ramires they will not be involved in the game tomorrow,' Ancelotti told reporters this morning.

“They have a little muscle problem, so for two or three days they have to stay off and they come back for Birmingham.”

The injuries will no doubt be a blow for Chelsea, as they regroup after their bow out of the Champions League on Tuesday night. Ancelotti says the mental block will be tough to overcome after the loss to Manchester United, but coming together as a squad will show a strength of character in the Chelsea players.

“Obviously it is not an easy time because after the defeat it is not easy to move on but I think it is a good opportunity to measure our mentality, our strength and our character and it will be important to move on quickly with a reaction tomorrow,' Ancelotti said.

“[The West Brom game] is a very important game against a team with strong quality and new management, they are doing very well and it will be a good step for us, not just for the result but obviously we want to reach the first four places in the Premier League but to measure our character and personality and how we are able to move on from the defeat on Tuesday.”

Chelsea are currently sitting third on the Barclays Premier League table, and are 11 points off title leaders Manchester United. Ancelotti says that rather than aiming for the title, Chelsea are concentrating on one game at a time.

'In these seven games we have to try to win all seven games,” Ancelotti said.

“We cannot think about winning the title, there is a strong gap for Manchester United and it is difficult to close this gap but we have to stay focused on our games, not the games of the other teams.

“Tomorrow we have to play against West Bromwich,” the Chelsea manager said defiantly.
