Jordan Henderson has had quite the week.

On Wednesday night, he lifted the Premier League trophy - becoming the first Liverpool captain to do so in 30 years.

Not bad.

Things got even better less than 48 hours later when he was named the Football Writers' Association Player of the Year.

Henderson beat Manchester City rival Kevin De Bruyne to the award, which is regarded as one of the best individual accolades a Premier League player can win.

The other big top-flight award, of course, is PFA Player of the Year.

Once again, it's expected either Henderson or De Bruyne will scoop that one when it's announced.

Henderson won the award last week

Given the rivalry between the two players - and the two teams they play for - you may have expected Henderson to rub his FWA POTY award win in De Bruyne's face.

But, he's actually done the opposite. Speaking after his win, the Liverpool captain has hailed his rival, calling the Belgian a 'special player' and a 'credit to the Premier League'.

"Kevin’s an unbelievable player," Henderson said, per the Liverpool Echo.

Henderson hailed De Bruyne

"He’s grown as a player, I remember watching him when he was at Chelsea and he was just coming onto the scene, that was the first time I really saw him.

"He looked like a special player then and he’s continued to grow. You can see all the hard work and the confidence that he has.

"He’s improved every single season, he’s got better. I don’t know him personally, but he’s got that hunger and desire to want to improve and work as hard as he possibly can.

"He’s a credit to Manchester City and to the Premier League."

Brilliant. You had to admire Henderson's class here. If De Bruyne is named PFA Player of the Year, it will be interesting to see if he's as gracious in victory as the Reds' captain.
