David Artell is a major doubt for Crewe ahead of the visit of Lincoln.
The experienced defender was forced off early in the second half of the defeat at Barnet last weekend with a hamstring problem.
His absence would give the likes of Patrick Ada, Adam Dugdale and Mat Mitchel-King the chance to get back into the team.
Lee Bell also suffered a knock against the Bees and did not reappear for the second half. He was replaced by Luke Murphy but is expected to be fit for the weekend.
"Dave is very doubtful after coming off on Saturday," Alex boss Dario Gradi told the club's official website. "We are hoping it is nothing too serious but we are well-served at centre-half with Duggy and Ada. Mat can play there too if needs be.
"Lee Bell was checked over by the doctor after getting a bang on his head but he should be okay."
Lincoln make the trip without leading scorer Ashley Grimes.
In a blow to City`s survival hopes, the 17-goal striker collected his 10th yellow card of the season during the 4-0 home defeat to Gillingham last weekend and will begin a two-match suspension.
Having only returned from injury against the Kent club, Grimes will now miss the difficult away games at Gresty Road and against Bury.
Either Scott Spencer of Drewe Broughton will replace the on-loan Millwall man.
Boss Steve Tilson has options should he wish to make further changes, with Paul Green, Cian Hughton, Jamie Clapham and Tom Kilbey vying for recalls.
Following five defeats on the spin, Lincoln are 20th in League Two and five points above the drop zone.
